Milling Tools – Choose the Right Type for Your Material & Machining Needs

Milling is the most widely used machining process in modern manufacturing. Selecting the appropriate milling tool directly affects metal removal rate, surface finish, tool life, and total machining cost. Amony provides three main categories, each engineered for different performance requirements, workpiece materials, machine rigidity, and budget constraints.

1. Solid Carbide End Mills – Highest Performance & Precision

Solid carbide end mills deliver the best combination of tool life, cutting speed, and surface quality. They are the first choice for high-speed machining, difficult-to-cut materials, precision finishing, and small-to-medium diameter applications (Ø0.1–25 mm).

Our lineup includes:

  • GM/PM/HM series for steel (up to 68 HRC)

  • SM/TM series for stainless steel, titanium, superalloys

  • AL/ALC series for aluminum (high helix + DLC coating)

  • Micro diameter series (Ø0.1–1.0 mm)

  • Specialized shapes (concave radius, chamfer, T-slot, dovetail)

Typical users: mold & die shops, aerospace, medical device manufacturers, high-precision component producers.

2. HSS End Mills – Most Economical & Tough

High Speed Steel end mills offer excellent toughness and are significantly less expensive than carbide tools. They excel in large diameter applications (up to 52 mm), low-rigidity machines, manual milling, repair work, and aluminum machining (3-flute DLC coated versions prevent built-up edge).

Our main products include:

  • Square 4-flute for steel

  • Roughing 4-flute

  • 3-flute aluminum series (DLC or uncoated)

  • Chamfer end mills

  • Large diameter flat end mills (Ø26–52 mm)

Typical users: job shops, maintenance departments, prototype shops, budget-conscious production lines.

3. Indexable Milling Inserts – Lowest Cost per Edge

Indexable milling tools use replaceable carbide inserts, offering the lowest cost per cutting edge and maximum flexibility. They are ideal for heavy roughing, large facing operations, high-feed milling, and when workpiece size or machine power limits solid tools.

Our range covers:

  • Face milling inserts

  • Shoulder milling inserts

  • High-feed milling inserts

  • Profile milling inserts

Typical users: heavy industry, large structural components, wind power, shipbuilding, large mold bases.
