Straight Flute Taps are the simplest, most economical and most widely used type of tap. They have no spiral and produce short, broken chips, making them ideal for short through holes, shallow blind holes (<1.5×d), cast="" iron="">
They are also the first choice for manual (hand) tapping, low-rigidity machines, repair work and prototype production where cost is more important than maximum speed.
HSS-E Straight Flute Thread Taps, JIS Standard, TiN Coated
This is our best-selling straight flute tap. Made from premium M2 or M35 cobalt HSS, with TiN coating as standard for 2–3× longer tool life. JIS precision grade ensures excellent thread accuracy and concentricity.
Available sizes: M3–M48, 1/4"–2". Both machine and hand tap versions are in stock.
Typical applications: cast iron, brass, bronze, general steel (short holes), manual tapping, repair shops, maintenance departments.
