Threading Inserts – 9 Thread Forms for Every Application

Why Choose Indexable Threading Inserts?

Threading inserts are the most cost-effective way to produce external and internal threads on CNC lathes. One insert holder + multiple inserts = thousands of threads at very low cost per thread. Compared to solid carbide thread mills or HSS taps, inserts offer faster indexing, easier resharpening (some grades), and the ability to change thread form without changing the whole tool.

Amony provides a complete range of 9 thread forms covering 95% of industrial needs:

1. ISO Metric 60° Thread Insert

The most common threading insert worldwide. Perfect for general metric threads on steel, stainless and cast iron.

2. UN 60° Unified Thread Insert

UNC / UNF American standard. Widely used in automotive, aerospace and US machinery.

3. 55° Whitworth Thread Insert

British standard, still common in Europe, UK and older equipment.

4. BSPT 55° Thread Insert

British tapered pipe thread for sealing (water, gas, hydraulic).

5. NPT 60° Thread Insert

American tapered pipe thread – the most popular sealing pipe thread in North America.

6. Metric Trapezoidal Thread Insert

Tr-type power transmission threads for leadscrews, vices, jacks.

7. ACME 29° Thread Insert

American trapezoidal thread, stronger than square thread, used in heavy-duty leadscrews and vises.

8. API Pipe Thread Insert

Oil & gas industry standard (round thread, buttress thread, etc.).

9. Comb Type Thread Insert (Multi-Tooth)

3-6 teeth in one insert – dramatically increases threading efficiency (up to 5× faster than single-point inserts). Ideal for high-volume production of long threads.

All inserts are made from high-quality carbide grades with PVD coatings (TiN, TiAlN, AlCrN) for long tool life. Most are double-sided, giving you 4–12 cutting edges per insert.
